bioborderRon grew up in Roswell, NM.  After graduating high school at 15, he left New Mexico to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder where he received a Bachelors degree in Psychology.

From 2001 to 2008, Ron served as a teacher and administrator at Boulder Preparatory High School, a small charter school for youth in crisis.

Lisa and Ron met on a volunteer trail-building project in 2004 and were married in 2006.  International travel ranks highly among their passions, so they spent their honeymoon in the Yucatan, visiting Mexico, Belize and Guatemala by backpack and bus.  They currently live in Denver with their two daughters, Madeleine and Lila.

Ron and Lisa’s daughter Madeleine was born in March 2007.  She was diagnosed profoundly deaf at 10 months old and received her first cochlear implant in June 2008.  Their youngest daughter, Lila, was born in September 2008.

Although Ron loves the English language, he’s conversationally fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language, and he’s tinkering with Farsi, French and Japanese.

Ron’s writing spans a wide range of topics and national publications, from Mountain Bike to Complete Woman.    He is also a Masters degree candidate in Applied Communications at the University of Denver.
